T.Y. KENTE TRAVEL AND TOUR (TYKTAT) is established November, 28-1992 to create the platform for students and lecturers from schools, colleges, universities, anthropologist and not limited to the above, as well as individuals (locally and internationally) and company exhibitors in the art and craft industry to inform, acquaint themselves and learn how to hand weave Kente (Kete), an African, Ghanaian prestigious art and craft.

Focus
- The organizations primary target shall be the young people who have dropped from school and those ones in art and culture industry in our communities but cannot afford their children school fees by initiating scholarships support programs and services to make sure they have access to education so far as education is the tools to improvement and development in the art and craft industry and so also their standard of living and reduce poverty.
- Our next line of target is to not escape the children’s age of day one up to seventeen and our elderly one’s age of sixty year and above

Our utmost concern is to showcase the beautiful traditional art and craftwork namely, Kente (Kete), Bead, Adinkra Cloth, Painting, Pot and Batik tie and dye with its colorful artifact that last longer than you can think and does not fade. Masons hand craftwork, especially Kente (Kete)+, is recognized internationally as the highest expression of African art and craft artistry. wearing Kete (Kete), Andinkra, Batik tie and dye clothes without Bead portray. Is used as cloth, bed spread, table cloth, door and window curtains, post cards, shirts, ties, academic gown, and choir robe and for decorating books, caps drums etc.
Many schools, colleges, universities, institutions, anthropologist and business entrepreneur in the art and craft industry have shown interest in studying and learning Kente (Kete) and Bead making among others. TYKTAT, having an in-depth knowledge in this field is welcoming prospective learners to equip themselves to creating the environment for a competitive market to empower and expand the Kente industry. TYKTAT, through the KENTE WEAVING PROJECT and ART AND CRAFT VOCATIONAL TRAINING INSTITUTE promotes either one, two, three, four weeks or between one month to six months to one year in theory and practical training of HAND WOVEN KENTE, BEAD MAKING, PAINTING, POT, ANDADINKRA BATIK TIE AND DYE MAKING ETC.
The training in Kente comes in two distinct textures: warp and weft weave.
As part of the educational tool, TYKTAT is building a KENTE /ART AND CRAFT CENTER within the KENTE VILLAGE that collects and displays our rich and colorful Kente from our collective past making it the hub of African’s rich woven cultural material.
The drive behind T.Y. Kente Travel and Tour (TYKTAT), going into this venture is to assist in the training and organizing capacity building programs, providing information and market and as well as providing logistics in the art and culture industry to sustain the standard of living of Kente weavers, Bead makers, Adinkra Batik tie and dye making and among other artworks.

At TYKTAT, we are committed to supporting the art and culture industry by assisting in capacity building programs. We provide valuable information, marketing support, and logistical assistance to sustain the livelihoods of Kente weavers, bead makers, Adinkra and Batik tie and dye artisans, and other talented artists. Through our initiatives, we aim to empower individuals and promote the preservation of traditional arts.
Kente/Art and Craft Center:
TYKTAT is currently in the process of establishing a remarkable Kente/Art and Craft Center within the captivating Kente Village. This center serves as a sanctuary for our extensive collection of vibrant Kente, symbolizing the rich cultural heritage of Africa. The center showcases the collective craftsmanship of the past, immersing visitors in the beauty and cultural wealth of African traditions.
Platform Creation:
TYKTAT was established with the purpose of creating a platform for individuals and groups to learn and immerse themselves in the art of hand weaving Kente. This platform welcomes students, lecturers, schools, colleges, universities, anthropologists, and art enthusiasts from both local and international backgrounds.
Training and Vocational Programs:
TYKTAT offers comprehensive training in various art forms through our Kente Weaving Project and Art & Craft Vocational Training Institute. Participants learn techniques such as Hand Woven Kente, Bead Making, Painting, Pottery, Adinkra, Batik tie and dye, and more. Training durations range from weeks to months, enabling artistic skill development.
