Program Description:
Learners will get to learn about Ghana’s unique Kente tradition weaving, the “cloth of kings”, by the help of locally organized Kente weavers’ group in the Kente weaving community. Learning to weave Kente is a process but not an event. The art of weaving start with a minimum of a week and can continue to a year and beyond depending on how far one wants to master the art.

Food and Lodging
During the learning process, learners will settle with a host family (Home stay) in the community. Beside learners can also be settled in a hotel/guest house which comes with additional cost and more importantly takes away one on one friendship with the locals which leads to enhance culture integration and immersion.
Arranging Your Airfare
T.Y. Kente Travel and Tour representatives will pick you up at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra, the capital of Ghana, at 12:00noon to 3:00pm on the Saturday that your program begins. The ride from Accra to Agotime Kpetoe, the capital of the Agotime Ziope District of the Volta region, will take approximately 4 hours maximum.

Ghana is a safe and stable democratic nation. Beside all the prejudices and stereotypes you might hold about Africa through the media, Ghana has never fought a war and incidents of crime are very low and in the eyes of many world economists, a very bright future awaits Ghana.
Overview of Fee
- Learning the warp design plain weaving, two shuttles with motifs, three shuttles with motifs weaving.
Traditional Drumming and Dancing with two yards (36”x72”) of special Kente cloth including one necklace and one bracelet beads for each leaner during the culture performances; which will be taken away with you back home.
Weekend tours to places of interest (tourist site)

TY Kente Travel and Tour is, intended to create a platform for students, lecturers, anthropologists, Individuals, Companies and exhibitors in the art and craft industry. This way, they get acquainted with new skills, talents and in-depth knowledge for creativity leading to both Local and International Development.
We believe that by connecting you with indigenous Artisans, we will be able to expand the horizon of TYKTAT art and craft works beyond the shores of Ghana, creating employment opportunities to improve and sustain the standard of living of artisans and as well reducing poverty for this present and upcoming generation.
After you complete our online application and submit all associated documents, you will then be accepted as T.Y. Kente Travel and Tour learning Applicant. The more people become involved, the more success we’ll ultimately have.
Available Discounts:
All learning program fees are based on our actual costs. We offer discounts to promote our program and to recognize situations where learners save us time and money. Depending on your circumstances, you may qualify for one or more discounts. Please note that you may qualify for the returning volunteer and family & multi-person discounts; however, if you take the student discount, no other discounts can be applied.

Returning Learner Discount:
We offer returning learners 7% discount in recognition of continued program with T.Y. Kente Travel and Tour. Ask your Administrative Director for details.
Student Discount:
We offer a 10% discount on a learning program for student. Simply send us a photocopy of your current student I.D. card and a letter of introduction from your school showing you are student.it doesn’t matter you are a short time or full time student.

Discount for Families & Multi-Person
If we can send more Learners, our partner companies like, T.Y. Kente industry, Delata Ghana LTD, Tet Glass Bead, Prospharx painting and Purple princess Industries; receives more support. If you recruit people to learn with you, our job of finding learners just got easier. Consequently, for each learner you bring with you on a program, we offer 2.5% discount fee up to a maximum of 5% for two first-time learners. You can reduce your fee by the total discounted amount or apply it to the other members of your family or group. The returning learners’ discount, if applicable, is available to the group organizer. This discount is not available with the student discount. Additional savings are available for groups of 6 or more.
